The Full Guide to Our Investigative Services

Red Keith specializes in fraud investigations, and in helping attorneys with their investigative needs. We work primarily in Seattle and Bellevue here in Washington, but we also work with clients from across the country and outside the United States.

Fraud Investigations

One of the best ways to protect your business assets is preventing fraud. We work with businesses every week to set up systems to protect your business’ cash and other assets. We educate business owners on how to prevent fraud, embezzlement, and other types of theft.

When prevention fails, we conduct thorough investigations to identify who the fraudsters are, how they harmed your business, and how to prevent further harm. We routinely collaborate with local and federal investigators to bring fraudsters to justice. And we understand how important your business’ reputation is to you, and promise all our work remains confidential.

Litigation Investigations

We pride ourselves on doing case work you can proudly present in court. We won’t do anything that brings the admissibility of our findings into question. And we promise not to do anything that gets our attorney partners featured in the back of the WSBA magazine.

If you need to know about other witnesses, or verify the statements made by the ones you know about, we can help. We are experienced at interviewing witnesses, and knowledgeable about police procedure for our criminal defense attorneys.

We can help provide expert testimony about firearms and ammunition issues. And we can help find and vet other expert witnesses that may help your litigation. Our primary goal is to help you offload all your investigative issues and let you focus on the intricacies of the law, like how to use a per curiam opinion, or whether to use supra or infra. You’re on your own there.

But we can promise detailed, well-documented investigations as well as professional, reliable courtroom testimony when needed. We'll focus on that, so you can focus on the billable hours and/or making partner.

Other investigations we do

Beyond those primary missions, we take a lot of other cases that we find interesting, rewarding, or that help make the community a better place. Here are some examples:

Asset searches

Should you sue these people? A big piece of that questions is, “do they have assets to recover our damages?” We can help find and document ownership of real property (land, buildings, cars, boats, airplanes) to answer that question for you. Some aspects of asset searches require a court order, for example bank account balances, so make sure the investigator you work with is licensed, insured, and knows how to make sure what you find can be used in court.

Finding people

Private investigators have the experience and tools to help locate missing people. And unlike most police agencies, the right PI will actually look, rather than just put their info into a database and move on to the next thing.

It’s important to note that an ethical investigator generally won’t share someone’s contact information without their consent. If your adult child doesn’t want to talk with you, there’s not much a PI can do to change that. Similarly, if you’re trying to find someone who has placed a protection order on you, a PI won’t help with that, and might even let the police know you’re in violation of that order and committing a crime.

If you’re trying to locate someone who owes you money, an ethical PI will generally want to see your court documents indicating pending litigation. We can help you find people, we just want to make sure we aren’t putting anyone in danger.

Anti-stalking help

While it’s a different kind of “finding people”, a good investigator can help victims of stalking to identify their stalker and help them find justice. We educate clients on how to detect surveillance, and what to do if they notice someone following them. We regularly collaborate with local police departments to prosecute stalkers after they are identified, and happily testify in protection order hearings, in order to help people find safety in their lives.

Streamer / sex worker safety planning

COVID saw an explosion of people earning income by sharing content they create online. Along with that came a huge increase in online harassment, stalking, and “swatting” incidents. We encourage streamers of any niche to develop safety plans to protect their privacy and anonymity. This is especially important for sex workers, spicy accountants, etc.

For streamers and content creators dealing with stalkers, we can help identify the stalkers and work with you and local law enforcement to help you find justice and safety.

Child support investigations

This is a personal issue to our investigators. It’s distressingly common for parents to work very hard to get out of paying spousal support or child support. We have seen this across industries, from CEOs to firefighters to contractors. Lots of “good people” lose their minds when it comes time to pay for their kids food and healthcare.

If it’s helpful to your court case, we can work with you and your legal team to document the work your former partner is doing, to justify support claims.

Investigations we can't help with

If you need help with an investigation that isn’t listed above, please reach out and see if we can help. You don’t get what you don’t ask for. That said, there are two things we cannot help you with:

Gang-stalking

Please read why we are not the right people to help you with gang-stalking.

Infidelity

Please read why we do not do infidelity investigations, and why we encourage you to talk with a family law attorney before hiring a PI for this type of work.
