Q. How do I get started hiring a private investigator?

The first step is just to contact us so we can talk about your case. Or if you're ready to get started, schedule a free 30-minute consultation. If we're not the right investigator for you we will try and refer you to someone who is.

Q. What does an investigation typically cost?

The cost will vary depending on the type and complexity of what you need. We use project-based pricing, with a discount for first-time clients. That means you'll know the full cost before we get started. After our consultation we can give a detailed estimate. You won't be surprised by billing when working with Red Keith.

Q. How can I trust your firm with my sensitive case?

Our business relies on our reputation. Red Keith has a reputation for trustworthiness, ethical conduct, and client confidentiality. We won't talk about the details of your case with anyone, without your knowledge and consent.

Q. What information do you need from me to get started?

Generally we need to see your ID if we meet in person, or at least a photo of the front if we're working together virtually, to know who our client is.

Beyond that, most of our work is done with a contract or engagement letter in place, and you'll need to agree and sign that, as well as pay the initial deposit. At that point we can begin work on your case.

Any information you already have about your case (in terms of police reports, target information, financial records, etc.) saves us investigative time, and saves you money. You can read more about getting started here, or schedule your free consultation if you're ready.

Q. How long does it take?

Duration can vary widely depending on the type on investigation. Often we are waiting for court records or public records, and that delay is outside of our control.

But we will give you an estimate before we agree to work together, and we will update you on the status of your investigation at least weekly. You are always welcome to contact us with questions or status updates, and routine conversations like those are never billed or charged to you.

Q. What are your operating hours for client communication?

During business hours, Monday to Friday, we will generally respond quickly, typically same day. We understand this line of work often requires flexible hours, and we coordinate with clients to communicate outside of business hours when necessary. That said, Red Keith is a small company, and we can't promise we'll see your email at 2 a.m. on a Sunday right away. We promise we'll respond the next day though!
